The Story

Wednesday, November 29

Today was the day of the surgery. Apprehension set in as expected. Felt emotional again through breakfast. Kind of reminds me of a passage from the chinese text book. The one when the author is going to another country for study and he is eating porridge and stuff. I had a sense of going away, for some reason.

Reached there slightly late. Alot of waiting time in between. When the registration was finally over, I first had to take my blood pressure and answer some questions. Then I was given a tag around my wrist. After that, had to change into some operation gown or something. More waiting time.

Well the operation was abit like what I expected and abit like what I did not. Firstly, I walked into the operation theatre. Hahas. And I was expecting to be wheeled in. The operation theatre was what you see in the television lah, although its only day surgery. Now its time for surgery proper.

I guess the surgeon is very experienced and professional. The anesthatic took a while. I was cheated lah. For some stupid reason, after the adminstering of anesthatic, I thought it was all over. But it wasn the case. It was just the start. Soon I was wrapped up like a tausarbao, okay just wrapped up. It is like this lah. Strapped down, wrapped up all over and around the head, blood pressure and pulse on left hand.

Actually, the operation is painless lah. It is mostly mind over matter lah. The surgeon was bringing me to explore lion country and tiger country. There were tigers, snakes, and dancing ballerinas. Wow. Yeah you can feel the movements and stuff. But I didn really know exactly what was what. Could guess only lah.

It was quite fast lah. It was the stitching that took long I guess. The stupid surgeon go let some newbie guy practice on me. Wow. At least that is what I think. Taught him about microsurgery and stuff. And about holding then needle at the centre and not the tip. Got quite impatient. Was getting numb all over. Neck was slightly strained too.

Summary. It was like a dream lah. I cant believe I was in there from about 10am to 1pm. No wonder I got all numb. End of it all, the wound is smaller than I expected. I wonder how many stitches are in there. But it is only due for removal next wednesday. Damm. I wonder if I have to stay home till then.

A down side. The scar is not fully removed. There is still a little at the bottom. The doctor doesn want to make the tension of the wound too high or something. But he says that will be easy for removal. Can be done in the clinic. We shall see. Worry about that another time. That will be somewhen in January.

Slept just now. Dreamt of meeting my friends. I think it was at White Sands. They seemed to have won something. But I was kind of ignored. Hahas. What meaning does the dream hold?

Anyway, thanks to all my friends for their well wishes. Jungang, Terence, Yvonnes, Shuting, Waiyin, Azlyna, Nicholas, LeaYee and Huiling. You guys made it possible. You guys gave me the strength.

Am I glad its over. Or is it just the beginning? I wonder how the recovery will go. No serious pain yet. I haven felt pain since the first jab. Just some tingling sensation at the moment.

Oh well. A step at a time. But I know I am going to miss my friends. Hope I will be able to meet them by the weekends. Maybe just a movie. But then again I scared. See them will laugh alot then have later strain the wound. Hahahaha.

Miss you guys. Hope to see you all soon.
